A tragic road accident along the Chavakali–Kapsabet Road has claimed the lives of a student from Kaptik Secondary School and a motorcycle rider, while three other students remain hospitalized with injuries sustained in the crash.

The accident occurred in the Kaptik area and involved a private Nissan vehicle and a boda boda motorcycle that was reportedly transporting four students from Kaptik Secondary School. According to preliminary reports from the scene, the motorcycle collided with the vehicle under circumstances that are still under investigation by authorities.

Witnesses said the impact of the collision was severe, leaving the motorcycle extensively damaged and causing panic among residents and students in the area. Emergency responders and members of the public rushed to the scene to assist the victims.

Authorities confirmed that the boda boda rider and one of the students died instantly from injuries sustained in the crash. The three surviving students were quickly transported to Kaimosi Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment. Medical personnel have not yet released details regarding the extent of their injuries, though reports indicate they remain under close observation.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the Kaptik Secondary School community, with students, teachers, parents, and local residents expressing grief over the loss of a young life. The tragedy has also reignited concerns about road safety along the Chavakali–Kapsabet Road, a route that has witnessed several serious accidents in recent years.

According to local residents, the latest crash comes only months after another devastating accident along the same stretch of road claimed the lives of three students and a boda boda rider. That earlier incident involved a lorry and raised widespread concerns about speeding, road safety enforcement, and the dangers faced by students who rely on motorcycles for transportation to and from school.

Following news of the latest accident, emotions reportedly ran high among students and members of the community. Witnesses indicated that some students, angered and distressed by the loss of their fellow student, allegedly set the private vehicle involved in the crash on fire. Images and videos circulating from the scene reportedly showed flames engulfing the vehicle as crowds gathered nearby.

Authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding the alleged burning of the vehicle or whether any arrests have been made in connection with the incident. Security personnel were reportedly deployed to the area to restore order and prevent further disturbances.

Community leaders have called for calm as investigations continue, urging residents and students to allow law enforcement officers to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash. They also renewed calls for enhanced road safety measures, including stricter traffic enforcement, improved awareness campaigns, and safer transportation options for students.

Parents and education stakeholders have expressed concern over the increasing number of accidents involving schoolchildren along the busy road. Many are urging government agencies and local authorities to take immediate action to prevent further tragedies.

As investigations proceed, the community continues to mourn the loss of the student and the boda boda rider whose lives were cut short in the accident. Messages of condolence have poured in for the bereaved families, while prayers continue for the three injured students recovering at Kaimosi Hospital.
